KOSPI Climbs 11.5% in a Week, Ending Seven-Week Slide

South Korea's KOSPI index rose 11.5% this week, according to market data from Gate cited by ChainCatcher. The weekly advance ends the index's streak of seven consecutive weekly declines. The data show a positive weekly move after seven straight weekly drops, making this week the first weekly gain after that losing run, based on the figures from Gate. ChainCatcher relayed the data in a report published on Aug. 14, 2026, attributing the change to Gate's market data. Gate's figures put the KOSPI's weekly change at plus 11.5%. The index had been through seven consecutive weekly drops before this week, and the gain brings an end to that stretch. A double-digit weekly rise followed the seven-week slide. The report contains the KOSPI weekly figure and the length of the prior losing run, but no other data such as the index's closing level or intraday details. Based on the same source, the index is now up for the week after a seven-week period of declines. The data are part of a market-analysis brief published by ChainCatcher.
